Film Types
The type of car tinting film is important!
Old Technologies
Older technolgoy products will use construction techniques like:
Dyed film: Dyed polyester usually reflects very little heat, only coloured for appearance, it will fade, discolour (go purple) and bubble quickly.
Metalized: Layers of metal coating are applied to layers of clear polyester. Good performance, however may be illegal for cars (See 'Window Tinting Standards'). Applying a metallized film over an embedded aerial in your glass will degrade reception performance.
Dyed / Metalized: A dyed layer is placed over the metallic coatings (reflective film), colour change is inevitable.
Older technology films usually don't stop any Infra-Red (IR) energy.
